As we approach the 60th anniversary of the March on Washington and the Civil Rights Act of 1964, we are seeking papers to create a special issue journal to cover topics relating to Civil Rights of the early 1960s for our Fall 2024 edition. How did civil rights flourish in not only the United States, but other nations? How have we expanded our understanding of the international implications of the Civil Rights Movement? What people have moved into the historical portrait of this time that have been previously unknown? How did civil rights translate among diverse populations?
Submit your article proposals for our special Fall 2024 edition focusing on the Civil Rights Movement in celebration of the 60th anniversary of the Civil Rights Act of 1964.
The New England Journal of History is published twice a year by the New England History Teachers Association, the oldest association of teachers of history and social studies in the United States. The Journal seeks articles that promote scholarship of historical and educational significance authored by faculty and graduate students as well as independent scholars. The Journal is interested in works emphasizing research and pedagogy as well as museum and book review articles. Individuals whose book review or article is accepted for publication will receive a one-year subscription to the New England Journal of History.
Style: The NEJH uses the Chicago Manual of Style. Please use endnotes (not footnotes) with notation in the traditional historical form.

Research articles - 3,000 to 7,000 words
Pedagogical Articles - 2,000 to 4,000 words
Book Reviews - 1,000 to 3,000 words
