Concentrating on globalization and global governance processes on one side and the conversation about the disintegration of the liberal international order on the other, the curriculum will address old and new actors, issues of war and peace, cooperation and conflict, regional studies in world politics, and present-day debates influencing regional security agendas.
The Current Issues in International Relations Summer School welcomes participants from all backgrounds, encompassing undergraduate/postgraduate students, researchers, and relevant individuals interested in International Relations, Political Science, International Security, and other Social Science disciplines. Moreover, there are no prerequisites for enrollment, allowing students and associated participants from any program to partake in Summer School.
Attendees will have the opportunity to explore archaeological sites, and museums, and experience the seaside.
Who Can Attend?
In order to take part in the Summer School, participants must:
- be aged 18 or over at the time of the program's start date,
- have a University/College degree in a relevant field (3rd-4th year students currently enrolled in University/College programmes are also eligible on a merit basis),
- have English proficiency (B1),
- Masters or Ph.D. students are also encouraged to attend.
Admin Fee and Scholarship Options
Admin Fees for the participants will be as follows:
- 4,000 ₺ (participants from Türkiye)
- 200 € (participants from Europe)
- 200 $ (participants from the US and the rest of the world)
The admin fee includes coffee breaks, two lunches, a gala dinner, some stationery, and transfers between the hotel and the venue. Participants should cover their own expenses (like accommodation, transportation, meals, etc.) other than those included in the admin fee.
Qualified applicants may be offered partial (50%) or full (100%) fee waiver scholarships. The scholarship will only cover admin fees according to the awarded waiver (i.e. partial or full).

Content
The course lecturers are eminent scholars in their respective fields with expertise in International Relations, Security, the EU foreign and security policy, and regional studies from various universities in different countries. Moreover, the Summer School will also host Türkiye’s and the EU’s official representatives, and diplomats as well as journalists as guest lecturers with two different panels.

Transportation to Bodrum and the Hotel
The Summer School venue and hotel's central locations offer numerous transportation options within the city. For those traveling to Bodrum by plane, several choices are available.
Bodrum Milas Airport (BJV) serves the area, with various airlines—including low-cost carriers like Ryanair, Corendon, and Sun Express—providing daily direct flights from numerous European destinations.
To access affordable transportation, follow the steps below:
From Airport to Hotel:
The participants can use HAVAS BUS (https://havas.net/en/bus-services ) which runs between the airport and Bodrum Torba Bus Station). You can pay cash for HAVAS bus. HAVAS provides service for all arriving flights. In addition to HAVAS, you can also take MUSTAS bus to the Old Bus Station located at the city center.
Those who will use HAVAS can then transit with another bus (Bus for Gümbet) from Bodrum Torba Bus Station to Serpina Hotel. You can pay either with cash or a credit card or buy a prepaid and reloadable travel card called Muglakart which is valid in all parts of Mugla. You can use ‘Muglakart App’ to reload the card. Please note that the application requires an internet connection.
Those who will take MUTAS will arrive directly at the Old Bus Station located at the city center and will take another Dolmuş to Gümbet to reach the Hotel.
Alternatively, if you wish to take a private taxi from the airport to the Serpina Hotel, it costs around € 25.
In addition, there will be a free bus service that will shuttle between Serpina Hotel or Gümbet to/from Bodrum Chamber of Commerce on a daily basis according to the School program.
Accommodation
A limited number of rooms are reserved at the Serpina Hotel (www.serpinahotel.com) in Gümbet-Bodrum with a special rate (3+ star hotel and all rooms are renovated in 2023).
The students and the staff are expected to check in on 4 June and can check out on 10 June 2023 (the day before and the day after the courses). For extended stay please apply to the admin staff for details.
