In this position you conduct research, teaching and administrative duties as a member of the School of History’s Stanley Burton Centre for Holocaust and Genocide Studies (SBC). The centre’s focal points is the history of the Holocaust in relation to other cases of mass violence in Europe and its colonies during the 20th century. You are expected to contribute to and to expand the SBC’s research and teaching profile.
You will undertake undergraduate and postgraduate teaching to be determined in conjunction with the Director of the Centre and the Head of School and deliver specialist modules in the modern European history with a thematic focus on European conflict history (war and colonialism, the Holocaust and other genocides, ethnic cleansing an nation building) at all levels of the BA and MA degrees. You will also carry out research and administration that contributes to and supports the work of the SBC and the School in developing and enhancing its reputation both internal and external to the University. That includes to developing ideas how the SBC’s day to day operations can be improved, how its popularity amongst students can be maintained, and how its outreach can be intensified.
You will have a PhD relevant to the profile of the SBC. You will demonstrate the ability to develop and deliver publications in peer- reviewed journals and as monographs, and you will be expected to develop ideas for future bids in cooperation with other members of the SBC and beyond.
