Postdoctoral research positions in the field of Global Histories of Empire (Center for Historical Research, the National Research University Higher School of Economics, St. Petersburg, Russia)

The Center for Historical Research of the Higher School of Economics in St. Petersburg, Russia, invites applications for postdoctoral research positions in the field of Global Histories of Empire.

The general requirements for the postdoctoral fellowship positions are the following:

- Candidates must hold a recent PhD in the field of Modern and Contemporary History or related areas which was awarded over the last 5 years or received before starting work at HSE in a relevant field by an internationally recognized university and has been assessed by external reviewers as having the potential to pursue research that is publishable in leading peer-reviewed journals;
- Candidates should have a strong background in Global Comparative History and new Imperial History methodologies, ability to work in team and conduct research;
- Fluent English is an obligatory condition as research and other activities are conducted in English. Knowledge of Russian is not required;
- Relevant experience will be an asset although not required.

Participants are encouraged to pursue their own research along with working on the Center for Historical Research’s projects: “Post-imperial diversities: Majority-minority relations in the transition from empires to nation-states” (https://spb.hse.ru/en/humart/chr/projects/diversity) and/or “Transformation of Regimes of Governing Diversity” (https://www.hse.ru/en/org/projects/365993927).

Successful candidates will get the opportunity to work in international research team in framework of the research projects of the Center, participate in research seminars of the Center (including the regular research seminar "Boundaries of History," https://spb.hse.ru/en/humart/history/seminar/) and use research resources of the Center (The Richard Stites Memorial Historical Library https://spb.hse.ru/en/humart/chr/rstites/, information resources and databases of HSE).
