History Compass is a major new electronic journal recently launched by Blackwell Publishing in association with the Institute of Historical Research (London). We are looking for original essays with either global or comparative dimensions. Thematically grounded submissions engaging topics such as economic development, global order, political and social change, gender, identity, migration, conflict, commodities and food, etc., are encouraged.

Historiographic essays are welcome.

Essays may be of varying lengths (1000-1500, 2-5000, or 5000+ words). All essays are peer reviewed. Examples of articles published by History Compass can be found according to categorised geographical section (Africa, Asia, Australasia and Pacific, Britain and Ireland, Caribbean and Latin America, Europe, North America and World) at www.history-compass.com.

Professor Mark Kishlansky (Harvard) serves as general editor, with world history section editors (also serving as H-Net/H-World editors) handling submissions for editorial review. Please address preliminary suggestions and/or proposals to below listed world history editors, including an indication of the length of essay you wish to write. Subsequently, those wishing to write longer essays may be asked to submit a one-page abstract.
