Our Institute has the opportunity to offer the following positions in Deptartment I “Integration and Conflict”:

2 PhD Grants
Starting: June 2005 (or later)

The grants are to be awarded in the context of the Research Group:

“Integration and Conflict as Dimensions of Cultural Tradition, Social Dynamics and Historical Experience in the Upper Guinea Coast (West Africa)"

headed by Dr. Jacqueline Knörr.

The regional focus of research should preferably be Sierra Leone and/or Liberia. Further details concerning the overall research profile of our department is available at: http://www.eth.mpg.de.

A PhD Grant is generally awarded for 2 years, with the possibility of two six-month extensions. We expect our PhD students to complete one year of fieldwork as part of their studies.
