Wilkes University invites applicants for a one-year Visiting Assistant Professor of History, World History position to begin in August 2024 in the Division of Global Cultures: History, Languages, and Philosophy. The Department of History, located within the Division of Global Cultures, prides itself in our commitment to undergraduate teaching as well as maintaining a rigorous research and scholarship profile.

Wilkes University: Visiting Assistant Professor of History, World History

The successful candidate will be responsible for a 4/4 teaching load including survey courses in Modern World History as well as upper-level courses in their field of expertise. While candidates with specialization in any World History field will be considered, particular preference will be given to those with a focus on Africa and/or the African Diaspora. Ability to teach the first half of US History survey is a plus. A Ph.D. in History (in hand by August 2024) is preferred. The ideal candidate will have prior experience in teaching undergraduate courses. Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.
