Call for Application

Postdoctoral researcher (on junior or senior level) ZMO is inviting applications for a 2-year position as postdoctoral researcher (on junior or senior level), starting from February 2011 or as soon as possible thereafter.

We welcome applications from all disciplines that fit our research profile, and applications with research projects on South-East Asia are especially encouraged. The prospective researcher will be based either in the working group 'Concepts of world and order' or the group 'Microcosms and practices of the local'; these are two of the three main working groups into which researcher are integrated (see website for more information). Applications should include a 5-page research project outline (including a working plan with time-frames), a CV, and a coverletter that should state the motivations for working at ZMO and relate the proposed project to the ZMO research program 'Muslim worlds - world of Islam?' and the anticipated working group. Salaries will be calculated on the basis of E13 TVÖD of the German salary scheme. We seek original and innovative projects that are well-grounded in disciplinary, regional, and linguistic expertise and open to interdisciplinary and comparative exchange. Active involvement in the working group and ZMO's wider range of activities is expected by applicants, next to an excellent research profile.

Deadline for applications: 15. 12. 2010 (email preferred)
